University Foundation Programme

The Foundation Programme.

A 9-month, full-time, OCN London-accredited programme designed to bridge the gap between your current qualifications and UK university entry requirements — the same curriculum, standards, and diploma as the UK programme, delivered right here in Dhaka.

What is UFP?

Bridging the gap to UK universities and beyond.

The University Foundation Programme (UFP) is designed for students who need additional preparation before entering an undergraduate degree at a UK or international university. It provides the academic skills, subject knowledge, English language proficiency, and confidence required for university-level study.

Accredited by OCN London and carrying RQF Level 3 (formally equivalent to A-Levels), the UFP diploma is internationally recognised and accepted by 200+ universities across the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Japan, Malaysia and New Zealand.

At UniStart Pathways, we deliver the NLGS IFP curriculum in Dhaka — the same qualification, the same standard, and the same outcomes as the UK programme, without the cost and disruption of studying abroad first.

UFP vs A-Levels

How the UFP compares.

Both routes lead to university — but the UFP gets you there in one year, with integrated support designed for international students.

Aspect UFP A-Levels
UK vs International Students Foundation programmes are primarily for international students. A-Level qualifications originate in the UK; Year 12 and 13 students in the UK mainly take A-Levels for university entry.
Entry Requirements More flexible entry requirements, accommodating diverse backgrounds. Specific subject requirements.
Duration 1 Year 2 Years (A-Level is divided into two parts: the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level, and the A2 Level).
Language Support Integrated language support for international and EAL students, including IELTS and IGCSE English. Limited integrated language support for any students.
Structure Flexible curriculum, varied assessment methods (exams, coursework, presentations). Fixed subject choices, exam-oriented.
Adaptability Greater adaptability, exploration of diverse academic areas. Limited adaptability, subject-specific.
Assessment Methods Combination of assessments including coursework and presentations. It will assess your overall success during your 1-year study. The A-Levels programme relies entirely on exams, allowing you to concentrate solely on preparing for a final exam for each subject.
