The home of the University Foundation Programme. NLGS is one of Britain's most celebrated independent schools — and through our partnership, Dhaka students access the same world-class qualification without leaving Bangladesh.
North London Grammar School (NLGS) is a private, non-denominational day and boarding school for students aged 4–18, located in Hendon in the London Borough of Barnet. Founded in 2006 as Wisdom School with just 100 students, it relocated in 2013–2014 to a purpose-renovated 50,000 sq ft campus on Colindeep Lane and adopted its current name.
It operates under the motto Bonitas · Scientia · Disciplina — Goodness, Knowledge, and Instruction. NLGS was recognised by The Telegraph as one of the top-performing independent schools in the UK. In 2024, 54% of GCSE grades achieved were 7–9, placing the school in the top 1% nationally.
NLGS is accredited by the Independent Schools Council, ISA, ISI, BSA, and UK Visas & Immigration, and is expanding internationally via franchise partnerships.
NLGS does not operate a traditional sixth form or offer A-Levels. Instead, it developed its own OCN London accredited University Foundation Programme — a one-year, full-time course for students aged 16–18, with three intakes each year: September, January, and April.
Students who complete the programme progress to university at a reported rate of 100%, with graduates securing places at institutions including Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, King's College London, the University of Manchester, and Queen Mary University of London.
NLGS structures its philosophy around its Latin motto — not just words on a wall, but three pillars shaping every aspect of school life.
Goodness — character, kindness, and pastoral care at the heart of school life.
Knowledge — academic rigour and a curriculum built for university success.
Instruction — structured teaching and high standards in every classroom.
